Re: Pick meeting of September 7, 2000
September 12, 2000
Hand Delivered: 9/12/00
Sir,
I have reviewed my notes pertaining to the pick meeting of September 7, 2000 and I find that I would like to add some additional comments to my letter to you of September 8, 2000. One of the things we had discussed was the matter of seniority. As I stated to you at the meeting I am not at all satisfied with the present method of keeping track of seniority. I have stated several instances where people had expressed serious doubts about the accuracy of the lists as published, and at least two of them in which I became involved where employees were not placed within their proper ranking.
Larry Graves has stated that he receives the seniority list from the union, apparently that seems to work for everybody. The problem, as I stated, is that it doesnt seem to be working for everybody and I would like to make substantial progress in determining the final responsibility for the accuracy of the lists. I mentioned the fact that I thought the contract called for the Authority to furnish the union with a seniority list. Nobody at the meeting seemed to be able to confirm this so I strongly suggest we pursue the issue, at length if necessary in order to resolve it.
Once again I strongly urge you to reconsider your intentions of having our signal employees cross divisional lines, and, once again I request an in person pick as opposed to the unfair, seniority violation prone method that has been recently employed.
